How to Make Your Wired Printer Wireless : Online Printer

A wired network printer uses an Ethernet cable instead of a USB connection, and it connects directly to a router instead of an individual computer. These printers take more time to set up, however, since you will have to enter your network details into the device to grant it access to the system.

In order to connect the printer we should have network router with available networks forts. We need to connect the computer to the network first and then with the help of an Ethernet cable connect the printer and router or hub so that printer easily detectable during the installation.

After cable connection we need to install drivers to complete the network Set up. In order to download the software. You need to open manufacturer Website enter your printer model, and then follow the onscreen instructions to download your driver, Depending on your printer model.

Once file got downloaded follow the on-screen instructions to open the download file to start the setup. When prompted to choose a connection type, select Wired Network. The software results page for your printer displays with the default operating system selected.

If you need to change the operating system, click Change, select your version, and then click Change. Under the Driver heading, click Download for the full software package, or click Basic Drivers for other driver options. When prompted by the installer to choose a printer connection option, select Wired Network to continue with and complete the setup.

Wireless printer

wireless printer uses a wireless network connection to print from different devices. Its  allows users to send documents to the printer from computers, smartphones, and tablets without connect them via cable or transfer files between devices.

Wireless Setup Wizard

The Wireless Setup Wizard, which you run from the printer’s control panel. You should know your network name and your security password (WEP, WPA, or WPA2).

On the printer’s control panel, go to the Network menu or touch the wireless icon and then go to settings. Select Wireless Setup Wizard. The Wireless Setup Wizard displays a list of wireless networks in the area.

Select your wireless network’s name from the list. If you don’t see your wireless network listed, you can enter your network name manually by scrolling to the bottom of the list.

If you enter the name manually it must be exact, including upper and lower case characters. Enter your WEP key or WPA passphrase. You must enter the key or passphrase exactly, including upper and lower case characters. Your printer should connect to your wireless network.

If it does not connect, you are given the opportunity to print a Wireless Network Test report that will help you find out what may be wrong.

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

WPS has two modes to connect devices together over a wireless connection. One is called “pushbutton” and the other is called “PIN”.

Pushbutton is by far the easiest method. Both your printer and wireless router must support WPS pushbutton mode. The wireless router must have a physical WPS pushbutton available.

Your network must use WPA or WPA2 security. Most WPS wireless routers will not connect using the WPS method if WEP or no security is used. Most WPS wireless routers will not connect using the WPS method if you are using the manufacturer’s default for the network name and no security.
